_____ BRIEF _____

ICT Watch is a non-profit civil society institution legally established in 2002 at Jakarta, by a group of young people who sharing their common concern to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) implementation and empowering in Indonesia. ICT Watch focus on research and social campaign activities, particularly those related to ICT. In performing its activities, ICT Watch always cooperate hand-in-hand with other stakeholders who have similar vision and mission. ICT Watch is legally registered institution as a “partnership” by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights Indonesia under the name of Kemitraan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi Indonesia (Indonesian ICT Partnership).

Vision

“Every person, without exception, has the right to access, produce, distribute and / or utilize any useful information for life through a variety of new media safely and wisely, without having a sense of fear and worry”

Mission

1. Providing information to communities about the dynamics of ICT through policy research and publication activities

2. Encouraging public knowledge about the benefits of ICT through education and communication programs

3. Serving advocacy, recommendations and legal assistance on ICT issues for the community and civil society

Board of Trustee Member Profile

Rapin Mudiardjo (born in 1976) has a good reputation as an advocate and lawyer in the field of intellectual property, information technology and new media in Indonesia. Besides having his own law firm, he is now active in “Indonesia Security Incident Response Team on Internet Infrastructure” (ID-SIRTII), an institution under the Department of Communications and Information Technology Indonesia, as Deputy of Education and Public Service. He has served as Chairman of the ASEAN Law Student Association (ALSA) when taking a Bachelor of Law from the University of Indonesia. He also had the profession as a journalist at a leading online law media law in Indonesia, HukumOnline.com. In his capacity as a law researcher, he often participated in various international workshop or conference. Some of them are:

  • Malware Analysis Workshop by Global Information Assurance Certification, Washington DC – USA (December 2009)
  • International Conference for IT Architecture by International Association of Software Architects, New York – USA (November 2009)
  • Open Net Initiative Workshop, Chiang Mai – Thailand (June, 2008)

Donny B.U. (born in 1974), had been a journalist for several years in the largest online media in Indonesia, Detik.com, where he now serves as Vice President. He is also lecturer for “e-business”, “communication technology” as well as “cyber journalism” subject for several prominent private universities in Indonesia. He has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and took a Master’s degree in Communication Management from University of Indonesia. As a new media researcher, he is often invited as resource persons in seminars in various cities in Indonesia. He was several times attend to an international forum, workshop or conference, among others:

  • Internet Governance Forum, Sharm El Sheikh – Egypt (November, 2009); attending workshop of child online protection, privacy and security.
  • OpenNet Initiative Workshop, Sharm ElSheikh – Egypt (November, 2009)
